A cholera outbreak has swept through Bangui, Bimbo, and Mbaïki. With 435 suspected cases and 36 deaths — nearly half involving children — our team mobilized within 48 hours to distribute ORS, water treatment tablets, and hygiene kits to over 8,000 people.
Our emergency response team deployed to the hardest-hit neighborhoods in Bangui's 3rd and 5th arrondissements, where open sewage lines and limited access to clean water created ideal conditions for the disease to spread.
In partnership with the Ministry of Health and UNICEF, we set up 12 oral rehydration points and trained 45 community health workers in cholera case management. Our WASH team simultaneously chlorinated 28 water points serving over 15,000 people.
The situation remains critical but stabilizing. We continue to monitor new cases daily and are expanding our response to Mbaïki, where cases have risen 40% in the past week.
