Seven core areas of work, each designed to address the Central African Republic's most urgent needs with lasting, community-led impact.
Clean Water & WASH
More than 1.1 million people in the Central African Republic need emergency WASH assistance. Conflict, flooding, and destroyed infrastructure have left communities relying on contaminated rivers and ponds. A 2026 cholera outbreak in Bangui, Bimbo, and Mbaïki — with nearly half of cases in children — underlines the urgency. We rehabilitate boreholes, build latrines and handwashing stations, and train community hygiene promoters in Bangui, Bossangoa, Kaga-Bandoro, and Bambari.

Education for All
Armed conflict has devastated CAR's education system. 41% of children have no access to learning, and 46% learn in difficult conditions — in burned or looted schools, under trees, or in displacement camps. Girls face the greatest barriers. We rebuild schools, train teachers through accelerated programs, run non-formal education for displaced children, and provide learning kits so every child has the materials they need.

Community Health
The CAR's fragile health system has been shattered by years of conflict. Over 955,000 people require essential health services but drug stockouts, insecurity, and destroyed facilities make access nearly impossible outside Bangui. Malaria, diarrhoea, pneumonia, and malnutrition kill children who could have been saved. Our mobile clinics traverse remote health zones. We train community health workers who become champions in their own villages — the first line of care for millions.

Displacement & Shelter
The CAR hosts over 400,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs), many living in makeshift camps around Bangui and in forest areas of the south and east. Hundreds of thousands more are refugees in neighboring countries. We provide emergency shelter kits and Non-Food Items (NFIs) for newly displaced families, support durable solutions for returnees, and build community centers that double as safe spaces in areas emerging from conflict.

Food Security
Conflict, displacement, and climate shocks have devastated agricultural production across the CAR. More than 50% of the population is food insecure, and acute malnutrition rates in some prefectures exceed emergency thresholds. We distribute food assistance to the most vulnerable, run agricultural recovery programs for returning farmers, and train communities in nutrition and dietary diversity.

Women's Empowerment
Women and girls in the CAR face extraordinary hardship: displacement, gender-based violence, lack of education, and economic exclusion. Yet they are also the backbone of communities — caring for children, cultivating food, and driving local economies. We run savings groups and income-generation programs, vocational training in stable areas, and safe spaces for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) in Bangui and Bouar.

Child Protection
The Central African Republic's prolonged crisis has had devastating consequences for children. Thousands have been recruited by armed groups, separated from their families, or orphaned by violence. Psychological trauma is widespread, and children in displacement camps face exploitation, abuse, and neglect. Share Hope Worldwide runs child-friendly spaces and psychosocial support programs, works with communities to prevent recruitment, and coordinates family tracing and reintegration for separated children across Bangui, Bossangoa, and Kaga-Bandoro.
